Project Highlights
Spark Innovation U8, a students’ team from College of Engineering Trivandrum, Kerala chose urban areas/cities as their project sector.
Existing sources of renewable energy faces a limitation providing requisite amount energy during night. This solution on the other hand can provide adequate power after sunset.
Who is Behind this Project?
The team is led by Mr. Dan Pinheiro and the team members are
- Dan Pinheiro
- Sandesh V H
- Akhil Thomas
- Akshay Ranjith
- Abhijith Neil Abraham
What is the Project all about?
With storage of energy in batteries green energy is available even during night. PANI, a polymer which shows photovoltaic effect can be used in areas even where solar panel can’t be used. It is applied as a coating on the surface of the walls to harness light energy and this energy is stored and used later on.
Smart town is an interconnected system of solar and PANI panels with batteries are used for effective generation and distribution of power.
What is the Uniqueness of the Solution?
Power is generated from multiple houses hence,
- Completely new and innovative
- Eco-friendly
- Renewable power after sunset
- Harnessing ignored light energy
- Could work on separate grid
- Power management system ensures energy is not wasted
- Energy efficient
What is the Potential Market?
- Huge application possible in rehabilitation projects and remote areas. It will be an interconnected system of houses with PANI coatings, solar panel and batteries.
- Completely eco-friendly for power hence attractive to electricity companies and public valuing the environment.
